Technical problems with the fire protection system force a delay in the opening of new Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Brandenburg Airport (BER) is intended to replace both Tegel (TXL) and Schonefeld (SXF) and become the sole airport for Berlin. Opening of Berlin's new Airport was due on 3 June 2012 and now is expected to be postponed by several months.
