SeaFrance suspended its Dover to Calais ferries yesterday, 15 November 2011, for 48 hours. Passengers are being transferred to alternative sailings, but these may depart from other ports. The French ferry company said it had halted its scheduled services to ''safeguard ships, passengers and crew'' as a decision is reached on a rescue plan for the firm which has come into financial difficulty.
